Central Park, NYC

On our last full day in the city we finally went to explore Central Park. After hopping on the subway from where we were staying in Brooklyn there was a big debate as to whether we should walk through the park or explore it by bike. After a lot of going back and forth we decided it was best to wander around on foot. I'm so glad that we didn't rent bikes for the morning as we soon discovered that there are many paths that don't allow them.

Here are a few of the places I'd recommend seeing in Central Park:

  • Belvedere Castle - Almost midway in Central Park is this castle which offers great views of the park. It's free to enter but donations are appreciated.
  • Bethesda Fountain - Located in the centre of the park this is one of the most famous icons to see. It's a great place to sit down and eat an ice cream.
  • The Mall & Literacy Walk - This strip of path is again another iconic features of the park and has been in several American movies.
  • The Lake - Not the largest piece of water in the park but it's still beautiful. You can even rent boats to row at the Loeb Boathouse.
  • Conservatory Water - Famous for it's model boats, it was even featured in Stuart Little.

As soon as we entered the park we quickly forgot we were in the middle of such a massive iconic city. The park is beautiful and full of little areas to explore. We must have spent hours wandering around all of the paths and fields.

It was the perfect way to spend our last full day in NYC!
